What do you suggest if my weight plateau's ?

At some point in time everyone's weight will plateau. This is to be expected. When this happens, you want to ask yourself a few questions:

Am I eating the correct amount of food that I am expected to eat?

If you are not taking in enough calories your body will plateau. Your body goes into a "starvation" mode if it thinks it is not getting enough. When your body is in this "starvation" mode it holds onto everything it can. If you increase your oral intake your body will start to lose weight again.

Am I drinking enough water?

Make sure you are drinking at lease 64 oz of water a day. This will allow your body to stay well hydrated. You can increase this on days that you exercise.

Am I exercising like I should be doing?

Exercise is an important part of losing weight and keeping it off. You should be doing some type of exercise everyday. If you are having trouble deciding what exercise works best for you or that you can tolerate, make sure to talk to the provider and get some ideas that fit your lifestyle.

Am I getting the right amount of sleep?

Numerous studies show that not getting enough sleep leads to weight gain. We need the right amount of sleep to make good choices throughout your day.  Lack of sleep may lead to metabolic dysregulation.  Make sure you are getting 6-8 hours uninterrupted  sleep each night.

If you have addressed each of the questions above and you are still at a plateau, try changing up the injection site. You can inject the medications in your upper arm, upper thigh or abdomen.  Remember just because the scale is not moving does not mean that you are not losing inches as your body changes.
